Don’t miss The Truth, Florian Zeller’s Olivier-nominated comedy on the fragility of home life and the secrets we keep from those we love most. Book The Truth tickets on TodayTix.
The Truth is a play that introduces us to Michel, who is having an affair with Alice, the wife of his best friend, Paul. If that wasn’t complicated enough, he is also trying to keep this relationship hidden from both Paul and his wife, Laurence, which makes the narrative much harder to control. In this witty comedy of deception, everyone is hiding something from someone, and every question makes every lie harder to cover up.
Tony Award-nominated Stephen Mangan returns to the London stage as Michel, starring alongside Ardal O’Hanlon as Paul, Sarah Hadland as Alice, and double Olivier Award-winner Janie Dee as Laurence. Written by Oscar-winning playwright Florian Zeller and translated by Christopher Hampton, The Truth runs in the West End for a limited season.

The Truth in London is a wildly entertaining comedy that goes out of its way to pass over the simple question of “why do we lie?” and presents fascinating deep dives into the benefits of lying, and whether or not honesty is as helpful as we’ve been told.
This play unfolds through a series of two-person scenes as Michel, Alice, Paul, and Laurence try to navigate what they know to be true, what they believe to be true, and the questions they ask each other to get closer to the truth. It’s a tightly wound story where everything is unstable, and the entire facade could fall apart at any moment.
Lindsay Posner directs the production, having previously staged the play’s English-language premiere at the Menier Chocolate Factory. Alongside such a formidable cast is a masterful creative team, including set and costume designer Lizzie Clachan, lighting designer Richard Howell, sound designer Adam Cork, and costume supervisor Joanna Coe.
Don’t miss The Truth, Oscar-winning French playwright Florian Zeller’s baffling comedy play surrounding the affair of two couples and the lies they all tell each other and themselves along the way.
