About The Cherry Orchard
Chekhov’s masterpiece comes to St. Ann’s Warehouse after a critically acclaimed run at London’s Donmar Warehouse, directed by Benedict Andrews (A Streetcar Named Desire at St. Ann’s in 2016).
The tension between the past and future, the personal and the political, is explored with urgency and passion as a family grapples with the inevitable forces of change. Anchored by Nina Hoss (Homeland) and two-time BAFTA winner Adeel Akhtar, audiences get up close to an extraordinary international ensemble cast of spontaneous, immediate performances.

Stylish update of a classic that falls apart on the way home when you realize the director/adapter did not understand what the play was about. The prices are so damned expensive. And unless you were sitting in the front of the way too huge auditorium you miss the actors energy, which is the main benefit of updating a play about the pre-revolution Russian landed gentry. By making the buyer a Trump like character, you eliminate the bittersweet acknowledgement of an era passing that was Chekhov's point.
Recommend for this generation!!
Really unique set design - was fun to see what all characters were doing in different parts of the house even if they weren't having dialogue - and overall amazing acting from the ensemble.
