"Inter alia" is a legal term meaning among other things, a fair phrase for the title of this play for a lawyer who balances it all: work, wife, mother. The play follows a celebrated lawyer, Crown Court Judge Jessica Parks, who is known for taking on controversial cases with regards to sexual assault. She keeps her work and domestic life separate, but soon her personal life collides with her professional principles: her son has been accused of rape, setting in motion deep reflections and realizations.
More than a stereotypical legal drama, Inter Alia examines consent, young relationships, and the impact of a hyper-digital culture on today's teenage boys. Showing the fragile terrain a mother must navigate when her son is accused of a crime, Inter Alia relies on flashbacks, shifting sets, and a powerhouse performance from Rosamund Pike to show a woman both unravelling and stitching together the truth of the unthinkable.
