Four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks directs the Broadway premiere of It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, which is adapted for the stage by Joe Landry and based on the story “The Greatest Gift” by Philip Van Doren Stern. Audiences are likely to best know the film adaptation of that short story: Frank Capra’s 1946 movie It's a Wonderful Life became a classic.

In the film, George Bailey is down on his luck and considers committing suicide the day before Christmas. But soon, he meets his guardian angel, Clarence, who shows him what life would look like without him, reminding him of the many ways, big and small, we improve the lives of those around us.

It's a Wonderful Life was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and has endured for almost a century as an iconic American Christmas film. Now, the story comes to the stage.
